IAM Remains Engaged with Other Stakeholders, Joins Letter to ILA & USMX Leadership Urging Both Parties Resume Negotiations.

This past Friday, IAM joined over 250 trade associations in a letter to ILA and USMX leadership, urging them both to return to the bargaining table to reach a new labor contract agreement prior to the tentative January 15th contract expiration date. The start and stop of contract negotiations earlier this year led to the three-day strike in October, which while brief, still had a significant impact on supply chain stakeholders relying on East and Gulf Coast ports. As noted in our letter, port automation processes and the impact on the dock workforce remain the primary issues needing resolution.

IAM will continue to engage as appropriate on this issue, and will keep members apprised of the negotiation’s progress. If you have questions on these or other issues, please reach out to Bryan Vickers, with IAM’s Legislative and Regulatory team, bvickers@pacellp.com, 703-403-2882.
